Confirmation of the child’s citizenship is one of the legal procedures, the result of which will be registration of the child as a citizen of Ukraine, if there are enough rights for this procedure.

Confirmation of the child’s citizenship gives the right to his parents, citizens of another state, or non-citizens, to apply for a residence permit in Ukraine (permanent residence permit in Ukraine). After five years of continuous residence in Ukraine, the right to receive Ukrainian citizenship appears.

ON WHAT RIGHT IS IT POSSIBLE TO IMPLEMENT REGISTRATION OF A CHILD IN KYIV:

• The birth or continuous residence of the child was carried out in the territory of the Ukrainian SSR;
• If the father, mother, grandfather, grandmother were born, or lived continuously in the Ukrainian SSR;
• The child was born in Ukraine after August 24, 1991 and did not accept citizenship at birth;

A child has the right to obtain Ukrainian citizenship if he is a foreigner, or does not possess citizenship at all, and obligations regarding completion of citizenship of another country are fulfilled (Article 8 of the Law "On Citizenship of Ukraine").

In the case when the child is under the age of sixteen, then he is issued a certificate of citizenship of Ukraine.

This certificate has restrictions on action: Persons whose age is more than 7 years old, the certificate is valid until the age of 16 years.

WHAT IS REQUIRED TO PROVIDE TO CONFIRM THE CITY OF A CHILD:

• Application form on the determination of membership in Ukrainian citizenship;
• Photos, in the amount of two pieces, size 3.5 * 4.5 cm (if the child is older than 7 years);
• The choice of a document that gives the right to confirm Ukrainian citizenship: A declaration indicating that the person does not have citizenship in another country (if the person does not have citizenship)
• Application for citizenship (provided by citizens of another country);
• Declaration that a person renounces citizenship in another country (are obliged to provide persons in refugee status, or those whom Ukraine has granted asylum);
• The petition regarding the change of citizenship, birth certificate of a child, passport documents of parents, marriage certificate.

If a situation arises, the applicant must clarify or clarify some points.

HOW TO MAKE A CITIZENSHIP TO A CHILD:

A representative acting on legal grounds who can act as a parent, guardian, or guardian must file a petition to accept the child’s citizenship of Ukraine. HMS authorities are engaged in receiving documentation, along with the issuance of certificates. Contact the authority according to your place of stay. Then, after approval is received upon a request, the HMS issued a certificate containing all the data in the language of Ukraine. The documents indicate the surname, name, patronymic, date and place of birth, the basis on which citizenship was obtained, the citizen’s personal number, gender, date of receipt and expiration.

The certificate must be issued to the applicant within a period not exceeding 30 days from the date all documents are handed over. Proof of citizenship for a child takes 15 business days.
